  • EMERGENCE OF MOTHER GODDESS CULT AND RELIGIOUS PRACTICES FROM PRE HARAPPA TO CHALCOLITHIC PHASE

Kumari Abhilasha and P.D. Sabale

Abstract: Man is by nature an artist. A child when is of 5 to 10 years old makes different images in leisure but he makes images of things which had effected his mind or he finds strange. Like the image of snake is often made by the child which becomes a part of his game later on. So this even might have been a case earlier with early men. Venus sculpture from Willendorf looks like the image of a woman holding an embryo in her womb. In early days giving birth might have been a task of great bravery which even might have resulted in high death rate of woman. So probably this made women quite important, owing to their task, that was quite similar to the kind of super natural power of making ones own kind and even satisfying the common desire of man. This might have resulted into the emergence of such a cult.

  • MUSLIMSOCIO-RELIGIOUS REFORM MOVEMENTSAND THEIR ROLE INTHE POLITICAL MOBILIZATION IN JAMMU AND KASHMIR.

*ZAHIED REHMAN GANIE **MUJEEB-UR-RAHMAN GANIE.

Abstract: By the Treaty of Amritsar* signed on 16 March 1846, Kashmir was sold to Maharaja Gulab Singh by the British Indian government for a sum of seventy five Lakh Nanakshahee rupees. The Dogra’s (the dynasty to whichGulab Singh belonged) therefore, claimed Kashmir as their Zarkhareed (purchased property) and did every possible means to exploit Kashmir and its people. The Dogra rule followed discriminatory policies against their Muslim subjects. These discriminations were clearly reflected in the fields of State services**, social spheres, education, justice, etc.By the beginning of 20th Century, various socio-religious organizations helped to develop a collective thinking within the Kashmiri community. Being non-political, these movements were directed towards social and religious reform. But the awakening these movements brought about had an impact not only on the social outlook of the people but had also tremendous political consequences. These movements roused the peopleto a sense of self-reassertion for a status of equality in the society, economy and political spheres. This paper will help us to understand how the associations formed during Dogra rule helped in generating the consciousness of their rights among the people of Jammu and Kashmir against the repressive policies of their ruler.

  • PORTRAYAL OF WOMEN IN FILMS OF FEMALE DIRECTORS -A CONTENT ANALYSIS OF “IRUTHI SUTTRU BY SUDHA KONGARA”

Mrs. Jayachandrika K

Abstract: The representation of women in media has been discussed from the second wave feminism and, many feminist scholars have analyzed whether women were portrayed stereotypical or not. The studies revealed that women were not shown in a constructive manner. They were shown as objects of sexual desire and their role was to support men. Feminist critics argued that the domination of men in media industry was the reason for this kind of representation. The Film theorist Claire Johnston proposed the concept “Counter Cinema” to control this biased representation. She said that women’s cinema would be the alternate cinema as they become the producer of the message and so they could change the way women are represented. The researcher has analyzed the movie “Iruthi Suttru” directed by Sudha Kongara, a female director to identify whether the representation of women was stereotypical or not and, if there were any objectification and narrow representation in the movie. The results showed that the female director had attempted in many areas to improve the representation of women in this movie but there were stereotypical portrayal of women in few categories. It was also found out that the female director showed women as sexual object in few shots. There was no narrow representation of women in this movie.

  • A STUDY ON THE EFFECTS AND CAUSES OF INDISCIPLINE AMONG STUDENT IN PUBLIC

Dr. Shashi Shekhar Misra

Abstract: integrated people to their own advantage as well as the good of society. This is only possible if the institution is successful in moulding morally upright individuals into its student body. This indicates that the purpose of the educational system is not only to educate students in a variety of subject areas, but also to instil in them the ethical and moral principles necessary to become responsible members of society who are able to contribute to the growth of their community. It should come as no surprise that maintaining order among them is necessary for achieving academic achievement. According to Warren (2014), children are often unaware of what is expected of them, and as a result, they may sometimes behave in a "barbaric" manner both within and outside of the school. As a result, discipline is an essential component of educational programmes in schools.

  • The Role of Linguistics in the Teaching of English

Dr. Sumit Kumar Dey

Abstract: This work aims to provide a rationale for the inclusion of linguistics in ESL classrooms. This research explores the benefits of linguistics expertise for ELT teachers of English. Learning about language, particularly the English language in ELT contexts, has traditionally relied heavily on linguistics. Many aspects of linguistics can be applied to further our understanding of the human language. Language has always been the focus of linguistics. The scientific study of language is known as linguistics. However, any discussion of linguistics must inevitably involve a discussion of language. However, linguists have known for quite some time that people acquire and employ linguistic competence. The relationship between linguistics and the instruction of English is the subject of this paper's primary focus.
