Molecular modelling analyses based on HF (at 3-21G level) and DFT (at B3LYP/6-31G level) calculations indicate that higher electron–deficient regions on the molecular surface of ferrocenophanepolyphenol than its metabolite quinonemethide would make the former itself more toxic through its interaction with glutathione and nucleobases in DNA though its more kinetic inertness and more solubility tend to diminish the effect whereas, very poor electron-deficient and much electron-rich regions on the molecular surface of quinonemethide would make it very less toxic though, to some extent both higher kinetic lability and lower solubility have little tendency to make it toxic.

  • Rodent Control Techniques-An Overview

Abstract:
No one strategy or method of control is practical or appropriate in all different pest situations due to variations in geographical and climatic factors, crop production and post-harvest storage systems, carrying capacity of the environment, biology of the pest rodent species, the nature and extent of rodent problems, and perceptions and socioeconomic conditions of the people. Additionally, farmers employ a number of conventional rodent control methods, and during the past two to three decades, a number of more effective methods, particularly rodenticides, have also been accessible. The two fundamental methods of rodent control that are accessible are lethal or reductional and non-lethal or preventative. While non-lethal or preventive measures involving environmental, cultural, and biological approaches, which may produce a more lasting effect, are rarely adopted, the lethal approach, particularly the use of rodenticides and trapping, which provides an immediate solution to the problem, is frequently considered the most practical, economical, and effective method of combating rodents.\r\n

  • Influence of Curry Leaves extract of Poly (vinyl alcohol) Composite Films for Food Packaging Applications

Abstract:
The present work aims to evaluate the effect of curry leaves extract on Poly (vinyl alcohol) blend films. The PVA/Curry leaf extract blend films were prepared by solvent casting method and analyzed with different instrumental techniques. The mechanical, morphological, thermal properties of the blend films were determined by using Universal testing machine (UTM), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA). Meanwhile interaction among the blend films was analyzed with Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy. The results of the mechanical study confirmed the significant enhancement in the tensile properties, elongation at break and young’s modulus. Further SEM micrographs showed complete miscibility among the blend films. The thermogram of blend films showed the slight increase in thermal stability compared to the pure PVA blend films. The improved properties could be due to the strong interaction among the blend films which was confirmed by the FTIR spectroscopy. The films exhibited good physicochemical properties, such films can be commercially explored for prolonged shelf life of food packaging in future.
