Abstract: Widowhood is one of the most stressful life events. However, the ways in which social support, financial resilience, and self-care interact to influence emotional well-being of young Nigerian widows remain empirically under explored. Therefore, this study investigates influence of social support, financial resilience, and self-care on emotional well-being of young widows in Anambra State, Nigeria. Anchoring on social support, resources, and transactional model of stress and coping theories, the study adopts cross-sectional research design using survey method with sample size of 273 young widows aged between 29 and 52 years (M = 35.49, SD = 7.62) which was determined using Cochran’s formula. Participants were selected through multi-stage sampling technique across selected Local Government Areas of Anambra State. Data were collected using self-developed structured questionnaire. The instrument’s validity and reliability were established before fieldwork. Data were analysed with SPSS version 25.0 using correlation and regression statistics. Results show that social support, and self-care had significant positive relationship with emotional well-being (r = .35, p < .01), and (r = .34, p < .01) respectively. Although, financial resilience had no independent significant effect, together with social support and self-care, the three explained 20% of variance in emotional well-being (F (3, 233) = 19.49, R = 0.45, R2 = 0.20, p < .001). The study highlights social support and self-care as key buffers against psychological challenges of widowhood, and urges social workers and policymakers to strengthen widow-support networks and promote resilience-enhancing interventions.

Abstract: With advances in medical care and the rapid growth of the aging population, healthy aging has become a critical global issue. The Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) framework emphasizes maintaining older adults’ intrinsic capacity through the integration of medical, community, and social services, thereby delaying functional decline and improving quality of life. ICOPE covers six domains: cognition, mobility, nutrition, vision, hearing, and depressive symptoms, and encourages self-assessment by older adults or assessment with assistance from family members. To enhance nursing students’ knowledge of older adults, intergenerational relationships, and self-efficacy, this study designed an intergenerational learning program in which students assisted older adults in conducting intrinsic capacity assessments. A quasi-experimental design was adopted, and approximately 60 third-year nursing students from Chang Gung University of Science and Technology were recruited, with 30 students assigned to the experimental group and 30 to the control group. Structured questionnaires were administered, and data were analyzed using SPSS version 28.0, including descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, independent t-tests, and paired t-tests, to examine the effects of the intervention on knowledge of older adults, intergenerational relationships, and self-efficacy.

Abstract: The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a significant shift in Indian higher education by emphasizing skill-based, multidisciplinary, and experiential learning. Applied Arts, as a practice-oriented discipline, plays a crucial role in achieving the objectives of skill development, employability, and creative education envisioned in the policy. This paper examines the role of Applied Arts in promoting skill-based education under NEP 2020. Using a qualitative research approach, the study analyzes policy documents, academic literature, and pedagogical practices related to Applied Arts education. The findings highlight that Applied Arts fosters technical, creative, cognitive, and entrepreneurial skills through studio-based learning, design thinking, and industry-oriented practices. The paper argues that Applied Arts can effectively bridge the gap between traditional art knowledge and contemporary professional skills. The study concludes with recommendations for curriculum restructuring, pedagogy, and assessment strategies aligned with NEP 2020 to strengthen skill-based education in Applied Arts.
