Abstract: Sustainable development has become an integral element of all day-to-day activities and concerns due to its vital role in defining the future. This paper investigates the possible contribution of green schools to achieving sustainable development goals. The concept of "Green Schools" encompasses educational institutions that prioritize sustainability, environmental awareness, and eco-friendly practices in their infrastructure, curriculum, and overall functioning. This paper explores the role of green schools in achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), and SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy). These SDGs are vital for ensuring a healthier, more sustainable future for both students and communities. Green schools that include sustainable energy techniques into their everyday operations not only save energy but also serve as platforms for teaching students about the need of clean and inexpensive energy, developing a generation dedicated to sustainable energy solutions, to achieved this Goals of PM SHRI Schools started the Green School Practices. This research explores the role of Environmental Education within the framework of NEP2020. The Environmental Education, as envisioned in NEP 2020, extends beyond just teaching about issues, it incorporates action-based learning, awareness programs, and practical solutions that equip students to take part in sustainability efforts. Green school practices are increasingly being adopted by PM SHRI schools, aligning with the global movement towards sustainability and environmental responsibility. This article investigates the various initiatives within the PM SHRI framework that contribute to the transformation of schools into Green Schools, with the goal of incorporating sustainability into the educational system and promoting environmental consciousness among students. This paper adopts a narrative review approach to explore the Green School Practices initiated under the PM SHRI (Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India) scheme. The review synthesizes existing literature, policy documents, and reports to understand how PM SHRI schools are integrating environmental education and sustainable practices in line with national education goals and global frameworks like the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The relevant literature was sourced from Google Scholar , ERIC ,JSTOR, Ministry of education and PM SHRI scheme documents. The study highlights that the implementation of Green School Practices under the PM SHRI scheme leads to multiple positive educational, environmental, and social outcomes.
