  • TREATMENT OF WOMEN IN ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF SOLITUDE

Abstract: Gabriel GarcíaMárquez’s famous novel One Hundred Years of Solitude tells the story of the city of Macondo and the Buendia family. In this novel, the circle of life is presented of the city and the Buendia family which resembles the history of Latin America. The rise and fall of Macondohappen with the rise and decline of the Buendia family. This research paper is focused on understanding how women characters are represented in the novel One Hundred Years of Solitude. In this process to analyse the treatment of women in the novel by Gabriel GarcíaMárquez, this paper analyses the gender dynamic and presence of patriarchy in the novel. It also analyses every woman character in the novel, evaluates and assesses the view of the author behind representing the women characters of different shades with a fair share of virtue and vice.

  • A STUDY OF SYNTAX DEVELOPMENT IN HINDI SPEAKING CHILDREN USING STORYTELLING TECHNIQ

Abstract: The present study was designed to examine the development of syntax in children, \r\nspeaking Hindi language. The technique used to study was story-telling method. A major \r\nquestion was that, how and when a baby becomes competent enough to use syntax properly \r\nin language. Three dependent measures-different type of words, biconditional sentences, \r\nthemes of stories were studied under varying conditions of age, family type and schooling. \r\n120 children were randomly assigned to 12 conditions, each having 5 boys and 5 girls. \r\nPrincipal findings were – Schooling and family type did not show any impact on the \r\nproduction rate of words and sentences, amount of production of words and sentence \r\nincreased significantly with age,

  • Use of Mythology: A Study of Girish Karnard’s Play Yayati

Abstract: Girish Karnad’s first play Yayati is based on a story from the Mahabharata. Yayati was written in 1961 and won the Mysore State Award in 1962. The play is based on an episode in the Mahabharata, where Yayati, one of the ancestors of the Pandavas, is given the curse of premature old age by his father-in-law, Shukracharya, who is incensed by Yayati’s infidelity. Yayati could redeem this curse only if someone was willing to exchange his youth with him. It is his son Puru, who finally offers to do this for his father
