Abstract:
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), a concept is comparatively new to India, is rapidly picking up. CSR has also become a basic business practice whereas it is also taking the attention of the management of large scale business or industry. It is also facilitating the bonding of business operations with social values. CSR is deemed as a point of convergence of various initiatives aimed at ensuring the socioeconomic development of the community. After companies act in 2013, every business must contribute at least 2% of the average of their last 3 years profit which acts as an instrument in delivering societal values, for the country's welfare. This paper specifically aims at providing an understanding of the concept of CSR and analyses the development of CSR in Reliance Industries Limited. It highlights the changes in the CSR of the industry from 2010-2011 to 2018-2019. It shows the distribution of CSR amounts of different sectors for their improvement an also the effect of CSR on their business turnover and profit.
